FISHES & SEAFOOD

OPSON FOODS FISHES

FISHES & SEAFOOD

OPSON collaborates with selected Greek aquaculture producers who share the same commitment to high quality standards and environmentally responsible practices.

Through continuous and carefully planned investments in aquaculture, these producers reach an annual production of approximately 1,500 tons of fresh fish, distributed worldwide. Applying advanced breeding practices such as the “long life” fish breeding process, they ensure the delivery of premium quality fresh fish.

The fish are bred in big cages and their number per cubic meter (fish density) is exceptionally low. Therefore our fish grow almost as if they were living in the open sea. Having the packaging facilities near the cages, the fish reach there promptly, straight from the sea.

Currently four (4) different species of fish are bred in our facilities:

Sea Bream / Dorade

Known as: «Orata» (IT), «Dorada» (ES), «Dorade»/«Daurade» (FR, DE, NL, USA, CAN), «Dourada» (PT), «Sea Bream» (UK, CAN), «Τσιπούρα» (GR)

Available size: 300-400gr / 400-600gr / 600-800gr / 800-1000gr / 1000-1500gr / 1500-2000gr

Sea Bass / Branzino

The products can be supplied on an attractive map tray via three (3) packaging options:

  • 10 kgr
  • 6 kgr
  • 4,7 kgr

The breeding process is carefully designed to ensure superior quality. Although fish usually reach a marketable size of around 450g within 14–18 months, the process continues for an additional six months while the fish follow a controlled low-fat diet.

This approach, although more demanding in terms of cost and time, results in healthier fish with lower fat content and enhanced taste.

As a result, the fattening process follows the natural growth rhythm of the fish, without rushing the production cycle. The full breeding period lasts approximately 20–24 months before the products reach the final consumer.

Furthermore, OPSON offers flexible packaging options, including attractive MAP tray packaging or a standard 6kg box:

  • Gutted fresh Sea Bream & Sea Bass (Ready to cook)
  • Fillet of fresh Sea Bream & Sea Bass
